What it is
Box Calf is chrome-tanned calfskin, aniline-dyed and finished by ironing, which compresses the grain to a fine, tight surface with a restrained sheen. It is the leather of the classical European wardrobe — structured, precise, slow to age.
Why the House uses it
Box Calf holds a line. Where softer leathers drape, Box Calf keeps the cut exactly as the pattern intended, year after year. VERANI uses it where the silhouette is the point.
How it ages
Slowly and evenly. Box Calf develops a deep, glassy polish over years of brushing rather than a pull-up or patina. It is the least dramatic ager in the House's vocabulary, and for its wearers that is the appeal.
